APIYCNA supports the Hong Kong Government’s objective to promote, protect and support breastfeeding, and welcomed the opportunity to provide representations on the draft Hong Kong Code of Marketing and Quality of Formula Milk and Related Products, and Food Products for Infants & Young Children. The draft Hong Kong Code was released in October 2012 for public and industry consultations.

APIYCNA reaffirmed its support for the World Health Organisation’s International Code of Marketing of Breast Milk Substitutes and Codex Alimentarius. At the same time we encouraged the Hong Kong Government to continue to adopt international best practices and standards as opposed to the excessive application and extension of select provisions within the international codes.
